With the Interface model described here, a 9-pin special version is available in addition to the other fiber optic compact interfaces. The transmission distance is limited to from 0 to 20m, but the connected RS232 port only sees a load current of approx. 2mA. With this version it is also possible to run on lower power RS232 interfaces without the need for an additional voltage source.
A pin- and function-compatible converter for distances up to 80 meters is available by using Interface model 81009
