Application example "Transport of serial machine data":
It’s not always possible to connect a computer and the machine to be loaded with data directly using a serial data cable. Data transfer using floppy, CD or USB memory stick is also often unsuitable or undesirable due to compatibility issues (possible virus transmission). In these cases the Battery Buffer can be used as a transport medium - sort of like a memory stick with serial RS232 port. Batter operation allows you to transport the data free of any external power supply.
